We went to this part of Spain for a reunion, organised by an old colleague. We were not sure what we would find on arrival, but we were very pleasantly surprised. The family run hotel is small (3 floors, 26 rooms) and offers great personal service. A number of rooms have sea views (it's almost on the beach) and all have substantial balconies. All are air conditioned. There is a suite on the third floor wich is very spacious and has two bathrooms. Breakfast is basic, but included in the room rate which is 65 Euros per night in "middle season; March to mid July and October. The hotel incorporates a small cafe/bar and has tables and parasols just outside, overlooking the sea. There is limited parking, but good access to inexpensive taxis. Taxis fare from Malaga airport is 92 Euros. There is a lift to all floors. I cannot remember if there is a ramp for wheelchairs. Sabinillas is a small town/village circa 25 Km from Gibraltar. There are a number of very good restaurants and a very long beach (around 8km long) which, when we were there, was virtually deserted and perfect for a long walk.
We enjoyed it so much we are returning in October, and we look forward to visiting again outside the main season. Another good reason to come at this time is for walking or to play golf. There are a lot of golf course around the hotel like Sotogrande, Lacañada, Estepona and La Duquesa (which is just 300 meters away) .The weather is another good reason to visit as well as a great location near to Gibraltar, Estepona, Marbella, Ronda and small villages like Manilva, Casares, and Gaucin. If you are looking for somewhere quiet either side of the season, this is the place to go.
