Snowing heavily as we arrived. The welcome that we had been waiting for. My family and I had arrived with different agendas. They were skiing. I planned to walk, spend time with the family and relax. All very happily accomplished, this is a stunningly beautiful spot with sumptuous rooms and wonderful service. Not that easy to get to. Flight to Geneva, two hours on the train and one hour on a bus till we arrived at our destination. Seemingly miles from anywhere!
Being the way I am, my first mission was to visit the tiny tourist office and ask if there were any tours. She looked at me strangely – tours? No – we ski or take the bus!
Having settled into that it was just what I needed. A lovely routine of walking in the morning. A lake opposite (4-5 miles around), A swim in the afternoon in the indoor pool and fabulous food in the evening.
Didn’t see or hear another Brit all week! Nothing against my heritage but it was very refreshing.
Even if you didn’t travel to this particular hotel, I’d really encourage you to consider Switzerland. It is hard to convey the pure peace and beauty in the most beautiful of surroundings.
