We needed a good value overnight hotel for our cruise on the QM2 and chose Holiday Inn Express for its just off the motorway location, just a short hop to the cruise terminal the next day.
As you would expect from a budget hotel, the room was basic but clean and serviceable. Comfy bed and adequate bathroom facilities. Free Wi-Fi.
What made this hotel a little treasure though, was the dinner menu. In a departure from normal hotel fayre, they have a proper Indian curry menu with three different curries to choose from. The curry came with poddadoms, chutney, naan bread and rice, and was a huge portion. I have to say I was really surprised by the quality and authenticity of our chosen curry and the light as a feather naans.
Drinks were normal hotel prices (i.e. slightly hiked up) but not too bad.
Parking is free (not always the case in Southampton).
I noticed that for a nominal fee you can use the health club next door.
Overall, a good option that we would choose again.
