If you're looking for a good inexpensive hotel in the centre of Edinburgh, look no further than Holiday Inn Express in Picardy Place. My husband and I stayed there for a short break this summer and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We were able to walk there from Waverley Street Station wheeling our cases, although we did take a short cut through the John Lewis store. The hotel has modern facilities and breakfast is included in the tariff, which does include a limited hot selection. The location of the hotel is excellent, just across the road from the Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre and the Omni Centre and frequent buses travel past to Leith if you want to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia. It meant that the city attractions were all within walking range of our accommodation. We found everything we needed in this hotel for the time we were in Edinburgh and had a very comfortable stay.
