This is a really enjoyable day out for most ages and we visited when we were staying in “Old Rome Mews Cottages”:http://www.silvertraveladvisor.com/review/accommodation/156609-review-old-rome-mews-cottages just outside of “Kilmarnock”:http://www.silvertraveladvisor.com/forums/travel-places/4276-destination-focus-kilmarnock?page=1
As well as the normal selection of farm animals (pigs, donkeys, horses etc.), they have a good selection of animals you’d normally go to a zoo to see (monkeys, llamas, prairie dogs etc.). There are indoor and outdoor activity zones to help with any inclement weather which is where this farm scores highly in that there is such a range of things that a child can do in the day to break up seeing and feeding the animals. We were there for best part of the day and didn’t get round it all.
There is a large cafe which served reasonable snacks and meals, plus plenty of wash stations dotted around for hygiene purposes.
To get round involves hills and grass paths, so anyone with mobility issues may find it tough going. Check direct with the park for more details.
Really good family day out.
