We were looking for a break from the beach for a few hours and had heard of Harrisons Cave on our trips to Barbados previously but had never ventured there. Booking was really straightforward, we booked directly via the Harrison Cave website with Chukka Tours $57 who for an extra $20 pp also offered a pick up and drop off from our hotel. With 2 teenagers in tow and a nervous grandad I wasn’t sure if heading deep underground on an electric tram tour was the right decision but it was excellent. We arrived around 30 minutes before our allocated tour time, and spent time in the gardens with a quick snack and beer at the Green Monkey Bar & Grill. In typical Caribbean laid back flair out food was late and we were at risk of missing our tram tour time but they said they would easily switch us if we needed to the next tram.
The tram tour itself lasted around 40 minutes which felt like a long time as we headed inside but it really flew by. Our guide had worked there for many years and talked through some of the changes she’d seen over time and was very well versed and knowledgeable.
Good photo opportunities underground and well organised. There’s an expansion project going on around the site but just the caves alone make a welcome stop on any tour. Not particularly cheap for what you get but then Barbados isn’t particularly cheap for anything!
