We recently visited Harlech in West Wales and even during lockdown restrictions, we found a beautiful town with stunning scenery, amazing walks and long stunning beaches.
Overlooked by the rugged beauty of Harlech Castle, with its Welsh flags flying proudly from its masts, the town has so much to offer to any kind of traveller. Fantastic food, cooked with love and traditional Welsh flair, from the many hotels and restaurants will suit any tastes and vary from hearty good quality food to A la Carte fine dining.
The backdrop of the stunning scenery of the Snowdonia Mountain range offers a range of walks to those looking for a quiet stroll or a challenging hike up one of the many peaks.
Add to these already numerous charms, the stunning stretches of golden sands and this unassuming little town has everything the silver traveller could want.
Within half an hour drive you can also find the Italian inspired village of Portmeirion, used in the filming of the seventies series of The Prisoner, the quaint village of Criccieth and its beautiful beach and Castle, the lively harbour town of Porthmadog with its famous golden sands where the land speed record was broken and where you can drive your car onto the beach and enjoy fish and chips while the sunset goes down.
Not forgetting the Blaenau Ffestiniog Steam Railway and Electric Mountain experience.
If you love history and castles, beautiful scenery and walks and beaches that glisten with golden sands, this is the place for you! Immerse yourself in Welsh culture, from hot buttered Welsh cakes to a language that draws you in with its melodic rhythms and history.
