We wouldn’t usually choose a Hard Rock Hotel for a city break, however, we were also travelling with 2 teenagers and thought it might appeal to them and keep them happy!
Firstly the rooms are spacious, we were kindly upgraded to a garden view room (not sure that there’s much difference to the city view – possibly quieter!). As we were travelling in February the hotel was very quiet and think in the summer the noise levels might be more annoying, but all in all I’d recommend the hotel.
The location is great, walking distance from Atocha station (you can get the train from Madrid airport directly to this station). Opposite the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (look out for free entrance timings). The hotel is within walking distance (about 15 mins) to Sunday’s El Rastro flea market, and close to many restaurants in Lavapies.
As it was February the pool area was closed. Weirdly you can have a fake wedding with Elvis and Marilyn – or at least that was being advertised the weekend we were there. Good fun to watch people having brunch then walking down a makeshift aisle!
We didn’t spend a huge amount of time in the hotel, but it kept a couple of teenagers entertained and for the price offered good value in a convenient location.
