This has two ‘Wow’ occasions, first when you arrive at the top of the drive and see the actual castle and secondly when you walk in the apartment on the top floor. We cannot recommend this rental enough. We stayed for 5 days, and desperately wanted to stay for more. Although we had booked the apartment, except for a small visitor group on Wednesday, we had the whole castle to ourselves. The apartment is so spacious and comfortable, with a super king sized bed. The bathroom has an excellent shower as well as a bath, if you are into long soaks. We cooked most of the time and the kitchen is very well equipped. However, the views are something else. You just cannot stop looking out the windows are marveling at how far you can see. You also have access to the roof which just reinforces the fantastic view. Laying on the roof at night looking at the stars is magical. It was also so peaceful, waking in the morning, there was no noise at all. I was concerned before going that it may not be warm enough with only storage heaters. However, that could not be further from the truth. We spent most of time trying to find out how to turn the heaters down! The only thing to be aware of is the 69 steps to the apartment and a further 30 to the roof. In our opinion worth every step. Our only disappointment is that we could not stay longer. We will be going back.
