Guernsey is a great destination for a short break or longer as there is so much to enjoy on this island off the coast of France.
The journey there is an adventure, by sea the three-hour trip by fast cat is exciting and good value with great duty free offers on wine and sprits or by air in less than an hour.
It’s like being on the continent with French road signs and building styles, Flowers are everywhere and the cuisine has a special flavour. The South end of the island is hilly with steep cliffs over the azure sea with the larger North end being flat with a brilliant cycle path linking all the wonderful white sand beaches and small coastal villages.
There are many boat trips to small islands just off the coast, all with their own special character. Many do not allow vehicles to land and seem a million miles from the rush of modern life.
There are many remains of the German invasion in WW2 and earlier conquest doted around the island.
Travel around Guernsey is easy by bike or bus and car hire is reasonable and there are some outstanding coastal and inland walks many down green lanes where traffic is restricted.
A great holiday destination with a special flavour and atmosphere.
