This caravan park is situated in Great Langdale, Ambleside, Cumbria, a great spot for walking the fells around the south eastern lakes.
Access is via a very steep tarmac driveway, in wet weather this can be slippery under foot and wheel.
Once on the site you will find it shaded by numerous trees, this makes it quite dark and dreary, the caravans are sited on the edge of a hill and back onto a drop where we were.
This was our second visit, the first was for a night and I thought it was bad, it now appears this could well be the norm.
The caravan we had was shabby and damp, the mattress had damp patches and the net curtains had mildew. We moved a mattress and the wooden bottom to the bed was filthy.
The shower was fine, apart from the fact that it took a good 20 minutes to drain away the water.
The layout of the caravan, which was an 8 berth, was such that the kitchen in the middle made it difficult to cook whilst people were moving around.
The beds were narrow and our room, which had a bunk across the top of the twin beds, had metal clips sticking out which wasn’t safe. There wasn’t room to swing a cat and the beds were not big enough for an adult.
There is no where for children to play on site, there is a shop and laundry which we didn’t use.
The one upside is that there is WiFi on the site.
Overall, the site is shabby, when it rains, the caravans are quite noisy due to falling water and twigs. If you go not expecting much then you wouldn’t be disappointed.
