Pouring with rain in Easter holidays and looking for somewhere to take our 6 year old grandson and remembered the old Transport Museum in Glasgow where we used to take our own kids. The old Transport Museum moved down by the River Clyde into a purpose built building over 10 years ago.

Entry is free but Car Parking is about £2.80 per hour.

Lots of historic vehicles including locomotives, trams, busses, bicycles, motorbikes and cars some well over 120 years old. There is also a street scene which we remembered from its old location with several shops and businesses as they were at the beginning of the last century. Lots of historical memorabilia and models of ships including paintings of the area when it was the biggest ship building city in the world.

Lots to see and play with and they had additional events on for the school holidays.

There is also an old sailing ship moored on the Clyde but we didn’t visit it because of the weather. So that is a good excuse to return in the summer.

The only thing we didn’t like was that a lot of the cars were displayed on 4 levels above the main concourse so we couldn’t really get close to them.

We spent over 3 hrs in the museum and will definitely return in the summer holidays.

There is a small coffee area and a larger cafe/restaurant on site. Also lots of tables where you can eat your own picnic.
