At £45/night for the room, and a ‘DIY’ continental breakfast (from well stocked fridge and cereal selection) included, this is a real bargain for Dyce/Aberdeen airport. The cheapest alternative – at £90 – was 5 miles away in Aberdeen.

The house has been completely refurbished with all new furniture, carpets and fittings.

All five rooms have a double bed, wardrobe, drawers and flat-screen TV – and WiFi connection from the hub in the living room (which is shared by all guests and has BT TV including BT Sport).

There are three bedrooms downstairs with a shared shower room; and two bedrooms upstairs with another shared shower-room. This lack of en-suite is the only drawback to this otherwise well-appointed house (and noted that the £90 alternative in Aberdeen was also for shared bathroom facilities).

The cheapest in Dyce from Booking.com for my recent visit was a massive £190 – also in a guest house but with en-suite and breakfast included; or an airport hotel from £291-325 (though this came down to £75 for ‘late deals’).

To be clear – the owners do not live in the house. You are met on arrival – get shown around the house and facilities, and are given your coded access-card for the front door, and for your own bedroom(s). The full kitchen/dining room/garden/living room is available for your use throughout your stay, and the fridge has a selection of yoghurts, milk and some other goodies. There’s a selection of cereals, croissants, and fresh-fruit. A small dining room attached to the kitchen has access to the garden with its picnic table for the better weather.

The living room has comfortable sofas, coffee table and the TV with cable from BT.
An easy walk from the railway station and into the town, where you can get an evening meal if you don’t want to cater for yourself in the kitchen.

Parking in the driveway on on-street – and there’s a regular (low-cost) shuttle-bus from the railway station to the airport, or local taxi if you prefer.

The website for this new facility is still in preparation, but bookings can be made by email to Ian on Glendale27@btinternet.com.
