Gearrannan Blackhouse Village is located on the West coast of the Isle of Lewis so you will need a car to visit otherwise there is the irregular bus service.
This is a living museum and you can actually get accommodation on site, however we didn’t.
The Museum charts the history of the Blackhouses and crofts in the Islands and there are demonstrations of Harris tweed weaving and real peat fires burning away, the smell is great!
There is a nice cafe and large car park on site and the scenery, as you would expect of the Outer Hebrides, is spectacular.
