When we were in the Vienne department of France we spent a day in Futuroscope, near Poitiers. It's a huge film-related theme park, with the most amazing (and scary!) rides and interactive features, and some great simulators. The food and drinks are overpriced as with all theme parks, but the attractions more than make up for that. As you approach the front of the queue for the 'Dances With Robots' ride, the instructions progress from the usual 'remove all loose items from your pockets' to 'remove your shoes' and finally 'remove your earrings', which gives some indication of how vigorously you get thrown around! It was a great experience but I think I'll stick to the more sedate rides in future, fortunately there are plenty of those too. It is highly recommended.
