St Jude is the patron saint of lost causes, rather like this ruined church.
Set in the depths of wildest Galloway, all that is left are a few walls and a graveyard full of toppling, lopsided tombstones. It is a haven for wildlife with wild flowers, butterflies and bees. There is constant birdsong including the raucous sound of crows in the nearby copse of trees.
Only reached on foot, this is a place to sit and reflect.
