As part of my 60th birthday I booked a weekend forest lodge for myself, my husband and my two sons and their wives. We had a fabulous family time together. I believe age should not hold anyone back. We all enjoyed the hot tub, forest walks and even rifle shooting (which I can definitely recommend) on site. There is also archery and a zip wire on the Keldy site (we would definitely have done these as well if we’d had time!) You can also book a massage or treatment in your individual lodge. For families with young children, there are forest ranger exploration walks and night bat walks. We also visited the New Inn at Cropton and did the brewery tour, which included a 2 course lunch and a gift box of 2 of the brewery’s beers. This was one of the most interesting brewery tours we have been on and we really enjoyed the lunch afterwards. The forest lodges are well located within the forest and are not too near to each other. There is also a bar and bistro on site, which we visited twice and enjoyed it both times. Food can also be delivered to your lodge as a takeaway. Although not the cheapest of lodges, I would say it was very good value for money and we all said we would definitely come back.
