It is the first time I’ve used Flybe and I was impressed. Relying on the train to Manchester Airport I’d allowed plenty of time and in fact was there several hours before check in. The desks were open and there was only one person waiting in the queue. Check in was quick and efficient and I was soon through security with a long wait until I boarded.
The flight was full and boarded from the back first. Anyone in a front seat was politely asked to wait until the front rows were called, which did speed things up. It was a small aircraft with just two seats on either side of the gangway. This meant we had to enter from the tarmac up the the good old fashioned stairs rather than the modern ‘tunnel’.
The two cabin crew were were pleasant and efficient. No food is supplied on the flight although there is a small basic snack menu to buy food. They don’t bother with a shopping catalogue advertising watches, expensive perfumes and other non essential goodies. There is no inflight entertainment but on a short flight, this isn’t needed.
The flight left on time and we were into Lyons a few minutes early. It was a good and comfortable flight.
Lyon Airport is a large modern airport with integral train station. Be warned, as in many airports, it can be quite a walk from the gate to arrivals hall. We arrived at 10.30pm and it was like the grave – so straight through immigration and a short wait for the bags.
