Moscato with Modigliani
A taste of Turin’s art, culture and gastronomy came to London when luxury travel company Cox & Kings treated us to Art & Aperitivos in the UK’s only gallery devoted to modern Italian art — The Estorick Collection.
Imagine savouring food and wines from northern Italy’s Piedmont region alongside portraits by Amedeo Modigliani, still lifes by Giorgio Morandi, metaphysical paintings by Giorgio de Chirico and the exotic sculptures of Giuditta Scalini.
Representatives of the tourist boards of Turin and the Langhe e Roero region ‘took us’ to their special area of Italy enticing us with talks about the art, architecture, design and vivacity that characterises it. All this accompanied with local salami, grissini (breadsticks) and an array of regional cheeses and wines from the birthplace of the world’s slow food movement.
The grand finale was sparkling Moscato d’Asti dessert wine and Turin’s renowned gianduiotti chocolates made from hazel nuts. The evening on 20 March celebrated the launch of Cox & Kings collection of arts and culture escorted tours including Turin: Arts & Aperitivos, Slow Food & Truffles.
