We were scheduled to fly to Corfu in June this year and after much research choose a really lovely looking villa with sea views, a path to the beach and its own swimming pool, and in the village so no need for a hire car. We had to book it last summer in order to get as vacancy it was so popular. Unfortunately as with all other foreign holidays our flights were cancelled and eventually we will get a refund from BA, but we paid a deposit on the villa direct to the owners by bank transfer. We realised in the small print it did say it was non-refundable so we requested to rebook or have a credit for 2021. Our request was refused and we were told no refund was possible either. We are now dealing with our insurers. Its a real pity as I would have loved to have given a splendid review of not only the village but Kalami and the White House and all things Durrell, but I’m afraid we have been put off Corfu for a while and are looking elsewhere for our holiday in 2021 which will be closer to home unless a vaccine becomes available. If book our own self-catering again we won’t be using bank transfer!
