This lovely visitors centre, once part of the Earl of Fitzwilliam’s Wentworth estate, is a great place to spend a few hours. There are small craft outlets, antiques galore, heritage trains, cafes and an ale outlet. The pub next to it has ensuite rooms at a good price. There is a children’s area and FREE PARKING. It’s worth looking at the website for special events www.elsecar-heritage.com or or when the train is running. Visited in January 2018 (had to tick 2017 as the new year not yet available).
