This hotel has an 18 golf course, but we as non players, we used it as a centre to explore the area e.g. visit Highclere Castle IVERY highly recommended, but book first) , eat at on the outskirts of Highclere Village (last owned by Marco Pierre White but stlll fantastic food and lunch is good value) and shop at the Mcarthur Glen Designer Outlet Village .
The hotel is quiet because of its setting in acres og parkland/golfcourse, interesting because of the history of the old manor House in the grounds, and the BMW Training Academy our little Vauxhall Astra looked rather like a small country cousin in amongst the flash BMW models, but fascinating for car fans to walk around!!
The bedrooms in the main Executive Building were spacious and very comfortable, our only complaint was with the inadequate lighting , fine for romance or hiding wrinkles but hopeless for shaving or applying make up!!!!
We ate dinner on 2 nights. Our first was l ukewarm ,so we complained, and the bill was slightly reduced. Next night we ate at the Manor House Lodge which was MUCH better.
The Special Offers in off season are well worth trying, you can ask De Vere Hotels to put you on their Emailing list.
8 out of 10 for value (at the promo price), 8 out of 10 for relaxation, and 6 out of 10 for food.
