I am a lone traveller and wanted somewhere nice for lunch on a recent visit to North Yorkshire. This restaurant is superb. The food was extraordinarily good. I went for the set lunch menu.
The Duck and Chicken pate I started with was delicious, it was served with a lovely side salad and a wonderful chutney that I believe contained blackberries. Some delicious bread accompanied this dish. For my main course I had the seabass, I was equally impressed. The fillet was seared and sat atop a delicious mixture of wilted greens, pancetta and mushrooms, with a red wine jus. This was served with new potatoes.
The flavours of the food in this restaurant are balanced with such precision that I cannot recommend it enough.
There are beautiful gardens behind this restaurant, which connect it to Crab Manor.
I understand that this is available for weddings, if you live in this area, please check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
A last point. I have mobility issues and although there are a few steps up to the main entrance of the restaurant, there is a slope and a side door available straight into the dining conservatory.
