We were recommended to this restaurant by the owner of a nearby inn. First impression was that it was in somewhat of a time warp as the menu majored on a carvery followed by selections from the sweet trolley. However the staff were busy and helpful and our choice of non-carvery fish dishes was excellent. I had two fillets of plaice in white wine sauce and my wife chose baked cod with a home-made tomato sauce. Both dishes were fresh and tasty.
Most of the staff were in their teens and whist certainly keen and helpful, some lacked training. Our request for tap water resulted in two glasses of lukewarm water, direct from the tap on bar sink. The lad behind the bar should have drawn chilled water from the wunderbar dispenser on the counter. Unfortunately he then opened our bottle of Muscadet out of our sight without first removing the top of the capsule. So he, at least, was in dire need of a little basic training.
