This was our second stay in the Corfu Palace Hotel and on both occasions we chose it for its location in Corfu town, its comfort and for the relaxation it provides. We stayed in a Superior room on the 6th floor which was comfortable and spacious with a balcony overlooking Garitsa Bay and across to the Greek mainland. A tea and coffee-making tray was available on request which we used and there was a daily supply of fresh fruit in our room. The food in the hotel is good. The breakfast buffet is very good with a wide range of hot and cold food, fruit, breads and pastries and a broad selection of hot and cold drinks, including their fabled fresh orange juice. We were lucky and were able to have our breakfast outside every morning in warm sunshine. The light meals and pasta dishes at the Byzantino Bar by the pool are tasty, if a little pricey. For dinner we usually ate in one of the tavernas around the bay where local dishes are served but on the one occasion when we ate in Scheria, the hotel's main restaurant, we enjoyed the Mediterranean dishes. The outstanding feature of this hotel is its location, just a twenty minute (albeit uphill) walk to the very attractive Old Town with its shops, cafés and museums and a mere 10 minutes by taxi from the airport. The hotel does face onto a well-used road which runs round the bay but traffic noise was not a problem, either in our room (we slept with our balcony door open) or when we were sitting in the pretty gardens or by the pool. The service in all parts of the hotel is good and the staff are welcoming, helpful and smiling. If you like stainless steel and glitz with lots of action around you, then this is not the hotel for you but if a calm, comfortable atmosphere is more to your taste, with a spot of sight-seeing thrown in, I think you'll enjoy a visit to Corfu Palace Hotel.
