This restaurant is the locale for an MTV reality tv show, Grand Benders, and has a reputation as a noisy party place for the young people who enjoy the summer in Grand Bend. It is definitely a place I would give a miss in the evening. However, on our last visit to this town, my aunt and I decided to give it a try for lunch.
When we went there for lunch I was expecting it to be quite noisy but was pleasantly surprised. The outdoor patio was loud with music blaring so we moved inside and had an enjoyable lunch. The doors onto Main Street open up for a cafe feel to the place. We saw many families having lunch so it was not the young adult scene we were anticipating. The decor is beach/tropical, with alligators and colourful birds, down to the bar.
The online reviews of the food I have seen since have not been very good. Nevertheless, the meal that we had was very good. We both had the spinach salad with goat cheese and walnuts. It was ample, fresh and very tasty. We also each had a shandy with our meal although I had to make them myself at the table after ordering the separate ingredients. Perhaps the evening bar staff would have known how to make one. I would go back for lunch but I would still stay clear of the place later in the day/evening.
