From the first email confirming our room, Roger and Justine made us feel more than welcome and we looked forward to staying at their home and B&B.
The roads are very steep and it was busy Regatta Week, so it took a few twists and turns to find the parking spot at the back of the property, but we felt very fortunate to be offered one as most B&Bs in town expect you to fight for a space in the town's overcrowded car parks.
Everything was super clean, and the comfy bedroom had TV, free Wi-Fi, well-stocked tea tray and even a chocolate treat on the pillow. Breakfast was wonderful – we could pick our time and food from a huge menu and the choice included scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, kippers or a full English. All 8 residents eat together at a large table in the family kitchen, which makes a lovely change from the usual small tables.
Cladda is 5 – 10 minutes down the steep road straight into the main town so, if you are fit, it is a perfect location.
Cost – £85 for two to include the breakfast. This compared very well with other places in town during that particular week.
One niggle only – the en suite. This is just a cupboard in the room with a dreadful water-saving shower that allows only a dribble, and no room to swing a mouse.
