My husband and I went up to Chapters Hotel as it was a gift for my husbands birthday and we were booked in for the gourmet tasting evening. Our room was lovely and we had a bottle of bubbly waiting for us and petit fours. The restaurant was nicely buzzing but not too busy and the menu was just right – not too much to choose from but something to suit both our tastes.

I had the cheese souffle which was out of this world, a triumph, followed by fillet of beef and again it was melt in the mouth delicious.

After dessert they presented my husband with an unexpected plate decorated with the nicest sweetie things.

All in all it was lovely and after breakfast I filled in the questionnaire and was given a free bottle of wine to take home!
