It really helps to have a warm, sunny ,autumnal weekend to enjoy a lovely long walk in the splendid grounds/parkland of the Celtic Manor Hotel, Newport. Most of the grounds are taken up with golf courses – the Ryder Cup is played here – but there is a splendid walk down into the Usk Valley with a hot cup of coffee at oneof the Golf Club lodges as a reward for managing the steep hill. Don't worry if you get tired as there is transport available to get you back to the hotel at any point you need it! This is a 5 star hotel with a great Spa and golf courses. We enjoyed the pool, sauna and jacuzzis but found it lacking in fresh cold water to sip (except in the changing room!). The room was large, very comfortable, with TV, and room service was efficient and friendly. It was very quiet too. Just one criticism – only 3 lifts for 10 floors of rooms left us waiting for too long at times. Parking facilities are excellent. Dinner was excellent, staff courteous and helpful and a very pleasant experience. Under the watchful gaze of some benign wooden dragonsand accompanied by a Welsh harpist, we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast with all kinds of breakfst foods imaginable on offer. In all, a very relaxing, comfortable weekend in a pretty sumptuous hotel. This hotel is suitable for people of all ages, young and old. There's even a tree tops adventure on site for the energetic and fearless.
