I occasionally travel alone on tours and this time I travelled with David Urquart Travel on a coach tour to Torquay, The hotel Cavendish in general was shabby and run down with stained ceilings, cracked ceilings, and wallpaper peeling away from the walls. But the worst décor was in the single room offered to me with a serious show of neglect and exposed ugly pipes. I did complain to reception and the coach driver and two other single rooms were offered but they were both worse than the original so I stayed there for the rest of the stay. I was miserable in that room. I managed to see other double and twin rooms which were far superior. I am so fed up with the poor treatment and accommodation offered to single people. We pay a single supplement and get inferior rooms.
