This is really just a snapshot of what we found to be the case aboard the Caribbean Princess. We flew to Miami and then got a taxi to Fort Lauderdale $90 so that was fine and the ship is very beautiful but we were fairly tired on reaching our cabin only to find we had a double bed with 2 child beds that were suspended above and folded up. We didn’t complain, too tired but wished we had done at the time because a fortnight of ducking and creeping to get into bed has left me with a stiff neck and bruises.
We knew we were on an American ship but found the majority of the guests to be very rude to the staff which was not nice to witness. We expected them to be louder than life and we expected a lot of older guests to be on board but didn’t bargain for the mobility scooters fairly knocking you down to get to more & more food.
My main gripe and reason for writing this is to warn people about the relentless way that Princess try to get money out of you, from the hard sell of excursions (very expensive) to the fact that on the nightly news sheet delivered to your cabin all it told you was which shops to go to, mostly ones they have a vested interest in, nothing other than daily ways to get you to spend money on board, from ridiculous art auctions (doh) to never ending marketing and selling, and heaven forbid you didn’t spend in the casino. Some people must have spent literally thousands of dollars on hugely over priced rubbish.
Yes you’re on holiday and you should enjoy yourselves but this was nothing short of feasting on the more gullible people – at least Dick Turpin wore a mask.
