We have friends and family near Canterbury so we've stayed there before. Last year we rented a beautiful apartment but late night revellers made it quite noisy so this time we booked a room at Canterbury Cathedral Lodge. Located inside the Cathedral precinct when we retired to our warm and comfortable room at night the silence was wonderful, as were the views from our window both night and day. Returning after an evening out it was great ringing the bell and being admitted through the gate.
There's Wi-Fi access and a public computer and it's wheelchair accessible. There is also a garden which is for Lodge guests.
Breakfast was sumptuous and although there is no bar or restaurant there is a 24 hour drinks service in the very classy lounge and all the bars and restaurants of the city right outside the gates.
A free pass gets you into the Cathedral as often as you wish and you have the pleasure of knowing that the profits from your stay are going to help to preserve one of the most spectacular buildings in the world.
