Reasons for trip

So much to do at the Pavilion Gardens all year round, from Antique and Collectors Fairs to Tea Dances. There are activities every month of the year.

The park outside is a picture, so much so the bandstand was festooned with white garlands when we visited on Saturday and the wedding party were having their pictures taken! The children watch and wave to the train going round and there’s plenty of room to sit and enjoy your picnic.

The Buxton Opera House has a good selection of plays, music, and dance both contemporary and modern. Something to suit all tastes in its old fashioned surroundings.

July is the ‘fun’ month, kicking off with the Well Dressings. See them being created from the 1st to 3rd July this year and then view them in situ from Saturday 4th. The whole town is a big pleasure ground from the 8th to the 26th with Treasure Hunt, Carnival Procession, Duck Race, Charity football match, music, theatre, dance, art and so much more. They certainly know how to draw a crowd. So much effort must go in to the planning.

But Oh Buxton you look tired! The hotels look as if they need a ‘wash and brush-up’! Some of the shops need a lick of paint and updating. Vibrant at its heart but dull on the cover sadly. Still worth a visit though.
