We take our motorhome to St. Malo from Poole and just cruise along the north coast out to Brest, around the West coast, then down along as far as our time will allow, staying at specially appointed Aire de Service overnight parking for motorhomes.
The French are very keen on motorvans and there are several special books of these places to stay. We may only move about 10 miles every few days, then cycle and walk that area before moving to the next Aire. This is a very cheap way to camp in France as the most we ever pay is around £11-13, and most are much less per night a lot being free. One particularly good free Aire nwe found this year was near Paimpol and we were able to take a boat from extremely close by to the beautiful Il de Brehat – a wonderful day trip.
We generally travel in May or June before the busy periods and the Aires are very rarely ever full this time of year.
