The British Museum in London contains the most amazing collection of artefacts from all around the world, spanning millions of years and every culture. There are sixty galleries to be viewed so obviously, you just have to pick and choose – it’s impossible to see all in a single visit.
We booked a timed slot in advance online. This turned out to be fine as the numbers are controlled, so it never felt too crowded. When we arrived at the main gate to show our ticket we were steered to the entrance where there is a lift, which was great because we did not have to negotiate the main steps without a handrail. When you enter into the atrium the building is truly awe inspiring.
Because it is free entry, I feel the need to spend some money in the shop and the cafe. A sit down with a cuppa and a cake is always welcome.
Everyone should visit the British Museum at least once in their lifetime!
