My wife and I belong to the local U3A and have joined one of their groups entitled “Questers”. It’s a group that goes out on visits to places of interest that may not necessarily be on the general tourist track – and the Naval College in Dartmouth is certainly one of those.
It’s still the main training base for the Royal Navy, and has been since 1863. The tour of the wonderful old (restored) buildings and accompanying talk revealed a fascinating story of how the college came into being, how it has changed and developed over the years, and how it still serves it’s training and education purpose today.
If that area of history interests you, I would recommend the tour highly.
