Perhaps the reason why we gave this event such a high rating was that it was totally unplanned. We were driving from London to Cornwall for our planned summer vacation but due to the distance decided to have a stopover at the Bristol Hotel (well named) on Prince Street for the night (which was a great hotel by the way, in a very central location). When checking in the receptionist mentioned that we were very lucky to get the last room. Oh, we replied, very popular hotel then? Well particularly at the time of the Hot air balloon festival, she said, I am assuming that’s why you are here? What balloon fiesta, we asked. Quite rightly she appeared incredulous. I suppose it would be someone arriving n London and not having heard of Buckingham Palace. She then proceeded to tell us all about it, and we decided to give it a go the following day. Needless to say it was probably one of the most spectacular events we have ever seen on such a beautiful sunny day, and as I mentioned completely unplanned for. Would thoroughly recommend this event for all ages, very friendly atmosphere, and Clifton Suspension Bridge is also worth a visit nearby with more spectacular views. It was a real treat at the start of the rest of our holiday.
