Brisbane is a fabulous city and easy to get around on foot if you like walking. After researching online for a while we rented an amazing room overlooking the “Brisbane Eye” big wheel. We had torrential rain on our first day and the Brisbane river burst its banks in low lying areas (not directly in the centre). After that it was 33 degrees each day and quite humid at times. We were also very lucky to see the Australia Day fireworks from our balcony. Our apartment was perfectly placed to walk around everywhere as it was close to Victoria Bridge, the Sea Cat ferry and only 10 – 15 minute walk from Roma train station. The Museum, art gallery and theatre are all in easy walking distance. There is a big Coles supermarket and cinema complex around the corner in the Myer centre. Another amazing thing in the South Bank, which in itself is a very interesting area with lots of interesting shops, stalls cafes and bars. Surprisingly there is a man-made beach area (right in the centre of Brisbane). It is fabulous with lots of sand, a big paddling pool and lots of warm rock pools surrounding it. We visited in Late January and would recommend it to everyone.
