Just returned from our 3rd visit to Brisas Hotel, Guardalavaca in Cuba. The resort offers both hotel accommodation & villas. The hotel side has most of the entertainment & the 24hr bar. There is a snack bar to get pizzas, chips, burgers & hot dogs, all tried & tested … delicious!
Large swimming pool with swim up bar, there is also a children’s pool & small jacuzzi.
You can see the wonderful beach from here which is clean, has sunbeds & chairs for guest use.
The villa side has the majority of the a la carte restaurants, there is another children’s pool a fare size pool, and also another pool with a small swim up bar. This bar also has a seating area for cafe style use, small snacks are served at certain times i.e. sandwiches & biscuits, coffees & teas available until the bar closes at 10.45pm.
Over all this is a fab hotel, some of the rooms need updating. We are about to rebook for our 4th year.
It has some disabled facilities, but please remember this is Cuba, things are gradually improving at this hotel, for instance a new jacuzzi has been installed in the pool area adjacent to the villas (although we never got to try it out as it had only just been installed).
We go in January where the weather can be a bit mixed, we had 5 days of rain this trip, so take a pack of cards or some games just in case!
The food although already pretty good has improved a lot this year.
Entertainment tends to be around 6.pm in the piano bar which leads into the main restaurant, this could do with being a little later as most people are dining at this time.
There is a night club upstairs that is very underused, ideally some of the entertainment could be moved up there, this would free up the piano bar for just drinks with background music so people can just socialise.
If some much needed improvements were made this could be an even better choice for a holiday.
