Recentlty we were in Bridlington, on the East Yorkshire coast. It was such hot weather we decided to take a boat trip in the true traditional sea-side manner! The Bridlington Belle does a number of short cruises – we took the 90 minute trip to see the puffins and sea-birds. We left the harbour and headed towards Flambrough head, then past the lighthouses to the cliffs. The boat is an old one – it was nice to have a bit of history The boat staff were well informed, giving us lots of information over the tannoy, about the area, the cliffs and beaches, and, as we reached the seabirds nesting spots, we were told about the various sea-birds. The commentator was excellent – he told us which species were where, how to identity razorbills from guillemots, and of course how to spot the puffins! It was a lovely trip – an hour and a half of relaxing, enjoying the sun, and with refreshments and souvenirs available. We enjoyed seeing new species of birds, but were annoyed we hadn't taken binoculars. There was a fair cross section of ages, not so many children as the schools weren't on holiday then, but people who had come on day trips, as well as staying over in the area. I have no hesitation in recommending this trip and at £6 (£5 concessions) it was such good value.
