My 2 favourite things I look for on a UK couples getaway holiday – luxury and narrowboats. Lesley Ann, a 50 foot canal narrowboat based in Leicestershire is the perfect couples luxury retreat. She is lovingly fitted with so many exquisite, luxurious and thoughtful features, she is the most cosy and comfortable floating 5 star holiday home.
We relaxed under the waterfall shower and loved the hammam-style towels. The hose kitchen tap was super stylish and I want one at home !! The cute dishwasher did the washing up from our on board snacks whilst we enjoyed the views on deck. The log burning stove was romantic and kept us cosy in the evenings while we watched our favourite netflix films and on demand tv. There is also on board wifi for those who want to upload their gorgeous photo’s on the journey.
We did have a rainy day, however the provided oilskins meant we stayed comfortable and dry continuing or gentle journey. I absolutely love the little kingfisher on the tiller, he was my absolute favourite feature.
We sailed from the base to Market Harborough, which was a relaxing an easy route. Foxton locks was a hive of activity on a sunny sunday with lots of day trippers enjoying the locks, the pub and the boat day trips.
The tunnel and locks towards Leicester were fun too.
The owners of Boutique narrowboats Sharon and Aaron were brilliant from start to finish. I recommend luxury narrowboating with them to both novices and experienced boating couples alike. If you are thinking “shall we?” I wholeheartedly urge you to try them!
