The Botanical Garden of Copenhagen covers 10 hectares of gardens. The nearest metro station is Norreport. It is free to roam around and boasts a butterfly house and a tropical palm house. In fact, there are 27 glass houses filled with thousands of species from around the world. The historic greenhouse built in 1874 is stunning. You can also visit the cafe and the flower shop.
The gardens and buildings are part of the University of Copenhagen and its purpose is to add to the knowledge and understanding of the diversity of the plants and their conservation, plus strengthening interest in the natural world – so important today.
As well as visitors who are interested in gardening and botany the gardens make an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
