The Parkhotel Brunauer is a modern low-rise hotel just five minutes walk from the combined bus and railway station in Salzburg.
It is around a twenty minute pleasant riverside walk into the centre and the old town with it's many attractions.
The hotel has a 3,500 sq. metre garden oasis at the rear complete with trees and shrubs, water feature statues, and benches and chairs set out to provide quiet moments of relaxation.
There is also an open air terrace area next to the gardens where meals can be taken from the adjacent restaurant.
The ground floor public areas are spacious and airy, as are the immaculately decorated bedrooms. Many of the bedrooms have balconies, though you would need to ask for a room overlooking the gardens for the better aspect.
For those who can't leave work at home or if you need to check-in for the airline, there is a free business centre and free wi-fi throughout the hotel, whlist others less concerned with mundane matters could take their ease in the basement sauna and fitness area.
The restaurant is roomy and decorated in contemporary style. It serves good quality food, with the outdoor BBQ meal being particularly excellent and tasty.
Breakfast offers a multitude of options with cereals, juices, fruits, meat, cheeses and a good choice of hot options from the self serve buffet. This is really good quality with much of it locally produced.
The staff are multi-lingual and most helpful.
This is a Best Western Plus Hotel and having a Best Western loyalty card means that you can obtain a free upgrade when available. We were upgraded to a suite with twin balconies which overlooked the gardens with no fuss.
Overall, this is a great mid-price choice if you don't mind being just off the centre of town.
