Visited Au Bon Accueil one Saturday in April. Had planned to take a trip on 1 of their larger boats but at this time of year only 1 trip each day at 14.30. We hired therefore a small motor boat to explore the marshes by ourselves. Boat was fine but it was hardly the unspoilt marshes we had been promised. We spent nearly 2 hours exploring the canals, but it was rather like boating up the Thames between Berkshire and Oxfordshire. The whole area has been developed with some pretty awful development, with gardens reaching down to the canals, and lots of barking dogs. I suspect many of the houses are second homes or weekend retreats. Nowhere did we see any undeveloped marsh.
