Reasons for trip

The Salzkammergut area of Austria is very beautiful and tranquil, especially by the lakes.
I have been there many times before as I have relatives in this area and was able to stay with them.

I stayed with my daughter in a town called Schorfling which is on the Attersee, one of the lakes in the so called Salzkammergut area of Austria. It is near Salzburg, a very beautiful and old city where you will also find the nearest airport. If you want to travel further, you could visit Innsbruck or Vienna. Gustav Klimt, the famous Austrian artist, used to paint and holiday on the Attersee.

The lake is unpolluted and clean, there is a regular small ship travelling around it which can drop you off at any of the little villages.

There are many small hotels and private ‘Pensionen’ which are reasonably prized and offer excellent meals.

I would recommend this area especially to families; it is safe and clean and there is so much to do besides swimming and walking in the hills. I always returned back home with my daughte full of health, and looking forward to our next holiday in this beautiful country.
