When I recently moved to London, Ontario I was delighted to discover an Italian food store in my neighbourhood. Imagine my added joy when I learned that it is also a restaurant! Angelo’s Italian Bakery Market on Wonderland in the NW of the city is a treat. I easily get distracted by the wonderful displays when I stop in to pick up just a few items. However, on my first visit I started with a meal in the hopes that I would buy less in the store.
The restaurant is self-serve and there is a large variety of hot and cold entrees including a large salad bar and a number of soups. I had brunch on this occasion and ordered eggs benedict with spinach and feta. It was served with roasted potatoes and a fruit cup. Once you have passed the cash register, there is a selection of coffees to choose from and you can refill your cup throughout the meal.
It is easy to see how Angelo’s has been voted London’s best bakery for the past five years. I often stop by to pick up a few items and will occasionally go for a meal or a coffee break.
