After missing a year we were back to our normal base (Orelle) in the Three Valleys, the world’s largest ski area. Whilst we were locked down improvements had continued and a couple of them made a really beneficial change, particularly if you are an older skier. The first is a new gondola to help you get up from Orelle, the very convenient “back door” to the area. The old one has been replaced with a comfortable “sit down” ten seater and an extension added to take you to Cime Caron right at the top. End result, very quick access to the area in the dry and out of the wind. A slight warning in that if you are not the most confident skier then there is no Blue run down from Caron and some of the Reds are a bit difficult. There is a similar improvement over at Les Menuires where a new gondola takes you all the way up La Masse, this time with some nice Blues to cruise down on if that is what you like.
