My brother and I travelled up to Alderley Edge to stay the night before the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show and were fortunate enough to be treated to a night at The Alderley Edge Hotel, together with a 7 course tasting menu dinner and a wine experience – wow was it an experience. The tasting menu consisted of nouvelle cuisine style dishes and every single one was an experience on a plate, including dishes such as three-way cooked asparagus with smoked peanuts (oh boy was that one good! thoroughly enjoyed that combination!) to line caught turbot (mmmm so deliciously fresh and tasty) to peach bellini, every course unique and utterly delicious. It has to have been some of the very best cuisine I could ever have wished to taste. And the wines that were chosen to complement the courses were superb. We had special treatment from the wonderful staff, who took time to explain each course, and the wine chosen to complement it, it was an unbelievably delicious experience. Unfortunately, whilst the dining experience was wonderful and my bedroom was wonderfully furnished and designed, with everything I could possibly need, the hotel lacked air conditioning, had very thick nets and luxuriant thick curtains, which meant my bedroom was way too hot and sleep was an issue! Breakfast was delicious – crepe with forest fruits, honey and Greek yoghurt. My brother had the full English breakfast and it looked delicious. He said it tasted delicious too! The buffet table offered a variety of cereals, muesli, fruits (fresh and dried), jam, pastries, etc. the service was again attentive. All in all, except for the overly hot bedroom, an excellent stay and wonderful food!
