Although listed as 3 star, we thought this was a very pleasant place to stay. It is surrounded by the fishing village of Mararikulam and if you are up early you can watch the fishermen sorting out their catch from colourful boats and drying the fish on the beach. Accommodation consists of 29 air-conditioned beach cottages set amongst trees, pools and fountains. The restaurant is nothing special and, like many places in India, the food is freshly cooked so takes a while to serve.Buffet evening meals are a good alternative. The resort is run by Moslems and therefore no drink can be served in the restaurant but they are happy to deliver alcohol to your room and even to provide a bottle opener if you have not come equipped! The swimming pool is a reasonable length and towels are provided there and at the beach if you prefer to swim in the sea. There is quite a strong undertow. There are lifeguards but we didn’t see anyone swimming – only paddling.
The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Internet access is available at reception and if you just want five minutes to check your emails, there is no charge. The resort is a bit remote if you were hoping to do some shopping.
