We booked a last minute trip traveling on Boxing Day from Edinburgh to Faro and then on to Tavira for 3 nights where we stayed at Hotel A Muralha. The hotel’s location is excellent a few minutes walk from the Roman Bridge and the ferry dock to Tavira Island. Tavira railway station is about 10 minutes walk. Numerous restaurants are within 10 minutes walk.
The hotel is above some shops and is spread over two floors, there is no lift but there was a stair lift for anybody with mobility issues. Our room at the back of the hotel was quiet and quite spacious and the bed was comfortable. We had a shower over the bath with plenty of hot water. Being December we had to use the heater in the air conditioning unit in the evenings. WiFi is advertised in public areas only but we had a great signal in our room.
Breakfast was exceptional with a really good selection of continental breakfast items, fresh fruit, interesting cheeses and cakes and a few hot items as well. They had 3 plant milk alternatives. The breakfast room was a little bit chilly.
There wasn’t a kettle in our bedroom but there was a kettle in the breakfast room which we could use at any time with a supply of T bags, instant coffee and decaf coffee.
The hotel was kept really clean and the staff were excellent.
Tavira is a lovely town and if we return we wouldn’t hesitate to book A Muralha again.
